Balat neighborhood is located in the Fatih district in the European part of Istanbul.

This neighborhood is due to the excessive interest of the municipality, and also for the presence of several very old religious temples such as synagogues, churches, and Orthodox schools.

UNESCO has helped protect and revive the Balat neighborhood because it contains large archaeological monuments and has included it in its World Heritage List.

The Turkish residents were also interested in improving the area and providing suitable services for tourists, such as popular cafes and restaurants with distinctive and different designs.

Balat neighborhood is considered a smaller area than the Kadikoy area on the Asian side.

The name of the neighborhood came from the word “palace” in Greek, and the reason is that it is close to the famous Blaherna Palace in the Fatih area
